Reed Fire Sculpture Symposium and Burning
Symposium: May burning: 22 September
The ancient Lithuanians gave a supernatural sacred meaning to fire element. It was a bridge to connect ulterior world - sacrifice to the gods, help people to purify themselves spiritually. Eternal fire in the altars meant life of community. Remembering an old calendar holiday – autumn equinox – there is organized a modern burning action of reed sculptures. Sculpture burning action is a component of international Balts sculptors symposium „Reed Fire Sculptures“. They are exhibited in Gintaro Bay (the Amber bay) till autumn equinox. Fire art action will be organized for the eighth time.

Sacral Music Festival „Laudate Dominum“
May 28-29
Sacral Music Festival has been organised for ten years in Neringa. Aim – to promote the development of sacral music genre, strengthen bonds among the schools, art groups and community members. This festival is devoted to commemmorate the end of the school year and Children‘s Defence Day. Significant part of the festival is Mass in which all the participants of the festival choir.

Neringa Summer Season Opening Feast ,,Nida 2011“
May 27-29
This feast announces the beginning of active tourism season – season news are presented, resort guests, tourists and dwellers are encouraged to get to know the surroundings, travel, take part in cultural, healthy lifestyle, sport events or lead a peaceful rest in the Curonian spit.There are lots of various events during this feast which are ended with the evening concerts held near the Curonian lagoon at Nida harbour. Specific attention gets fish market in Preila, where you can buy or taste various kinds of fish from the Curonian lagoon.

Xth International Festival “Organ Summer 2011”
28 May – 3 July
The Festival gets to know the stylistically broad repertoire and strive for presenting of the huge expression possibilities of organ. Traditionally, a special place in „Organ Summer“ takes one of the oldest forms of the organ music – organ improvisations submitted by the audience given different topics. The programmes of the festival reflected the wide panorama of organ music: from the old Masters up to improvisations – when music was born at the same time it was played. All concerts are held in Lithuanian and German.

XIIIth International Folk Festival ,,Tek saulužė ant maračių”
(„The Sun is Rising Over the Sea“)
June 24-26
Mission of the festival – to present folklore to audience and give an opportunity to be a part of it, form a special experience for the participants‘ state, involve into educational and concert activities, communication with representatives of different ethnic culture world. During the festival not only old Lithuanian customs and traditions are presented, but at the same time new expressions of modern folklore are being looked for, characterised to time spirit, organized folk dance training, crafts presentation, installation of natural substances found in nature, presentations of cuisine heritage of different Lithuanian regions and guests from foreign countries, seminar based on the theme of the festival. A great importance is put on education that gives an opportunity to introduce a unique protected nature of the spit, fishermen traditions of littoral region.

VIIIth International Chamber Music and Ecology Festival „Nepaklusniųjų žemė“
(„The Land of Disobedient“)
1 June – 8 July
Mission of the festival – to build cultural bridges for cooperation among musicians from different countries, interest a wider audience in chamber music, promote the coming of new works and their performance, fullfil new cultural space of Neringa with concert events, remind important music anniversaries and encourage international spread of Lithuanian music. During the festival organized eco-plein air art ends with concerts.
In cooperation with the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy, National Students Academy and M.Rostropovicius Foundation there is an opportunity to present themselves at concerts for young Lithuanian talents. Master classes for young performers are held during the festival as well.

XVth International Thomas Mann Festival „Gimtoji Europa“ („Native Europe“)

This year festival is devoted to Lithuanian cultural issues: the importance of art and culture nowadays, responsibility of intellectuals in today‘s processes.Music festival programme will wander through different eras. Word programme involves speakers from Lithuania and abroad. On Urbo hill movie nights in the open air.

XIIIth International Chamber Music Summer Festival „Kuršių nerija 2011“
(Curonian spit 2011“)

The Festival has become a broad and traditional cultural accent of Western Lithuania. It performs the most outstanding Baroque, classical and modern composers pieces of chamber music. It initiates the presentation of new works by Baltic Sea region countries.

XIth International Jazz Festival “Nida Jazz Marathon 2011”
29 July - 14 August
Traditional event promoting motives of aeshetics, free and healthy lifestyle. Activating the life of elite jazz in Neringa the festival allows the audience to see and hear of about six-eight jazz projects from Lithuanian and abroad. A wide contingent of ,,Nida Jazz Marathon” listeners are happy to spend their spare time sapidly, communicate, listen to different shapes of jazz music, enrich own jazz cultural experience.

Old Craft Days in Neringa
13-14 August
The festival provides a unique opportunity to get back into the distant past, the origins of our civilization, to touch on what the hands of our ancestors touched a hundred or thousand year ago. The participants dressed in archaic clothes revive and demonstrate the old crafts: produce amber amulets, cook, mould pots, resurrect the traditions of old fishing and preparation of the fish of the littoral region. Everyone is free to learn how to use various tools, to restore the production process, feel the spirit of that epoch, watch the joust of the X-XIIth century.

VIII International Choir and Vocal Music Festival “Vox academia”
15-31 August
International festival promotes a special attention to professional vocal and choral music in Lithuania. Concert program consists of Baroque classicism, romantism, Western Europe of XXth century, the Baltic countries and Lithuanian composers.

The end of August
In festival three Baltic states: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia present the programs of documentary, animation with filmmakers ahead. During educational gatherings there the properties of film and manufacture are revealed. Part of the festival – children and young people‘s movie workshop where they make a cartoon.

XVIIth International Painting Plein Air in Nida
extending the traditions of expressionistic “Brücke” generation
5-17 September
The Plein Air started in 1995 tries to renew a creative mood of a well-known Nida Artists colony that was run until 1945. In Nida there was created thousands of pictures, lots of artists from Europe came here (M. Peckšteinas member of expressionist group „Brücke“ was in Nida in 1909, 1911-1912, 1919-1920 and 1939).Today in the history of art the painted works on canvas in Nida is considered to be the most significant and are exhibited in famous museums and galleries of the world. The Brücke Museum in Berlin was established in 1968. Like a century ago, today the artists go back to Nida again. In 1999 Nida Artists association ,,Tiltas“ („ Bridge“) was founded and this fall the sixteenth time has been organizing an International Painting Symposium „Expression of Nida“.

Folklore feast “Pūsk, vėjuži!” („Blow the wind“)

This festival aims to promote the ethnic culture of Minor Lithuania, enriches the network of traditional events. The basis of celebration – performances of folklore groups from littoral region, presentations of the beginning of the fishing season, ethnic culture through the folk songs of Minor Lithuanian, dancing, games, traditional crafts, themed workshops, cognitive trips. This year it is intended to revive autumn tradition to cook vimba.

Wood Carvers‘ Symposium ,,Raganų kalnas-2011” („Hill of Witches – 2011“)
second part of September
Hill of Witches in Juodkrante, a unique museum of wooden scultptures in open air, has already been for the third decade. This cultural object is in perfect harmony with nature of the Curonian spit. During summer season this place is visited by thousands of people from Lithuania and abroad.Unfortunately, due to the harsh marine climate the wooden sculptures constantly decay, some of them are irreparable, so they need constant maintenance, restoration or replacement.This project aims to organize a workshop for folk artists, continue the renovation of wooden sculptures exposition.

The XXXIVth International Seminar of Nida Photographers
middle of September
A seminar has become an important cultural phenomenon in Nida, giving new creative impulses and ideas for the participants of the event, summarizing last year works of photographers, provoking new photography exhibitions and projects. The seminar aims to promote an active and live dialogue among art photography artists, curators, exhibition organizers and collectors.

Neringa 50 Jubilee Feast
November
Traditional cycle of events combines the programs of art, sport and healthy lifestyle. The accent of it is a wide range of artistic expressions followed by a united concert of all folk groups from Neringa. It has become a tradition to organize „Kuršių kiemas" („The Curonian Yard“) where all organizations present themselves ingeniously. Cultural institutions have open days.
Neringa will hold its 50th jubilee that is going to be of great joy, full of events. All are welcome. Do not miss it!

New Year in Neringa and Fish Soup Tasting
31 December – 1 January
It has become a tradition to celebrate New Year in Neringa as more and more people are coming here. An integral part of New Year‘s Eve has become an evening concert which pleases the gathered with subtle melodies, the word improvisations and romantic atmosphere.
In 2010 dwellers and guests of Neringa were the participants of luminuos balloons action. A thousand of helium-filled glowing ballons was going up the sky. At midnight all were invited for a waltz and later on to join the linear dancers.
In 2011 in the old town of Nida there was built a small Christmas town.
1 January all are welcomed to taste fish soup in the center of Nida.
