The area of “Nagliu” Natural Reservation is 1680 ha. It stretches for 9 kilometers between Juodkrante and Pervalka. Here one can see the Grey, also called Dead, dunes, the places of sandbound former settlements, forest vegetation of self-contained origin and the soils of hundred year-old forests buried under the sand. Due to strong winds, the extreme coombs and washouts are formed. Here and there, the fragments of old soils crop out from the sand.
You can walk through that reservation and explore landscape of the Grey Dunes at the 31st km of the road Smiltyne – Nida where there is a parking lot for automobiles.
