In the eastern part of Nida’s fishermen settlement, in Skruzdyne, in 1867 Hermann Blode hotel, called the Artists’ House, was built. The famous cultural actors of those times stayed there: Ludwig Passarge, Engelbert Humperding, Thomas Mann, artists E. Bischoff – Culm, Hans Beppo Borschke and other artists who had established the colony of Nida artists. The only hotel museum (now it is the hotel “Nidos Smilte”) in Neringa functions here.
