Behind Alksnynes farm yard, on the coast of the Lagoon, there is a monument for the Soviet Army soldiers. In 1945, at the end of January, seven Russian landing troops’ soldiers fell in the battle for the Curonian Spit. In 1967, the monument was built at the spot of their wreck. Rigorous and anguished face of a soldier was carved out of the stone weighing about 30 tones lifted from the bottom of the Lagoon. The architect of that architectural project is P. Sadauskas, the sculptor is J. Vertulis.
