Interreg South Baltic Programme 2021 - 2027

“Nature-based wellness tourism - a new concept for sustainable development of the SBA”

The aim of the project is to ensure the conditions for sustainable development and resilience of the tourism sector in the Southern Baltic Area through the development of innovative thematic cross-border nature-based wellness routes specifically tailored for health recovery and enhancement. By promoting cross-border cooperation, these thematic routes will create new business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, increase the visibility of tourism in the region and promote sustainable development by reducing seasonality.

Expected project results:

Guidelines and a framework for the development of the sustainable N-B-Well tourism model, aimed at promoting health recovery and enhancement in the SBA region. This outcome will include the development of a certification scheme for N-B-Well network organisations.

  • A system of cross-border touristic routes designed to enhance health and wellbeing in the SBA. It will adopt a holistic approach, each route covering different thematic focus: 1. physical health; 2. mental health; 3. emotional health and well-being recovery.
  • Interactive digital platform for navigating cross-border health recovery tourism offerings via N-B-Well thematic routes.  This tool will allow businesses to cooperate in the development of cross-border tourism offers, enabling tourists to choose their itineraries according to their physical and mental health conditions, illnesses, fitness levels and travel preferences.
  • Establishment of an N-B-Well tourism network to ensure the longevity of the project's results, using the experience and expertise of the project and associated partners.

The achievement of the aforementioned results will contribute significantly to the sustainable development of the Southern Baltic Region. Increased tourism activity will enhance the region's attractiveness to both domestic and international tourists, improving their overall experience and boosting the region's competitive edge. Cross-border cooperation will facilitate the development of diverse, year-round, natural resource-based wellness tourism services. This will reduce dependency on specific seasons, create new business opportunities, promote entrepreneurship, and generate jobs within the community. A unified approach to marketing and certification will improve the visibility and quality of services in the South Baltic region, leading to increased tourist inflows. Additionally, the development of innovative N-B-Well routes will foster positive changes in public health and well-being.

Project activities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the N-B-Well tourism concept, including traveler typologies and identification of best practices in N-B-Well tourism.

  • Perform a market analysis and develop a certification system for tourism businesses.

  • Organize seminars for business representatives.

  • Carry out an analysis of existing route models to inform the development of N-B-Well themed health and well-being routes.

  • Analyze the supply of tourism facilities and service providers.

  • Develop tourism routes focused on holistic health restoration and enhancement, and organize pilot study visits.

  • Create an interactive online map of sustainable N-B-Well tourist routes, integrated into the main website.

  • Identify and network with SMEs that have the potential and interest in implementing N-B-Well proposals.

  • Develop digital training materials and self-learning courses for SMEs.

Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme 2021-2027

Project „Light in the Dark - Increasing resilience in rural and coastal tourism in the northern Baltic Sea Region by developing off-season experiences“

Light in the Dark helps small and medium-sized tourism enterprises to develop off-season natural offerings that attract tourists to rural and coastal areas in the northern Baltic Sea Region throughout the year.

The off season period; fall, winter and spring in the northern Baltic Sea Region is dark and cold, and often without snow because of proximity to and humidity from the sea. This causes challenges for tourism and the problem is especially profound in rural and coastal areas in the northern Baltic Sea Region. The modern travelers are called nature explorers, natural wonder hunters, nature tribe tourists. They are looking to avoid crowds by travelling off season. They expect customized experiences, efficient service, they value nature and are willing to extend their stay. The project (1) responds to this need, and (2) supports the ability to respond to the Baltic Sea Region's common need to prolong the tourism season by developing a transnational northern Baltic archipelago concept for nature-based tourism. We create a fall-winter-spring package consisting of three product experience packages under the concept Light in the Dark for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Destination Management Organisations in tourism to attract travelers during off season. Transnational collaboration between universities, SMEs and Business Support Organizations promote coherent and synergistic implementation of the solution and add value by connecting all relevant stakeholders and businesses from different countries. The concept helps tourism sector to better respond to and adapt their businesses to off seasons, building resilience among businesses operating in the archipelago and coastal areas.

Project implementation period: 2023 - 2026.

„Creative Europe“ (CREA) priemonė European Cooperation Projects (CREA-CULT-2023-COOP)

Project „Merging Original Traditions Into new Voices of Europe“), No 101128429

MOTIVE is a transnational cooperation project that brings together musicians from Italy, Poland, and Lithuania to celebrate Europe’s rich musical diversity and creative potential. By connecting emerging artists across borders, the project transforms geographical distance into meaningful collaboration—fostering shared experiences, strengthening artistic capacities, and enabling the co-creation of original works inspired by the musical traditions of the participating countries.
Implemented by a consortium of three European organisations active in the music sector, MOTIVE promotes international cooperation and cultural exchange through mobility, creativity, and innovation. The project directly addresses the European priority of transnational creation and circulation, placing the mobility of artists and musical works at its core. Through a combination of collaborative training sessions, creative laboratories, and international performances, amateur and early-career musicians have opportunities to develop their skills, collaborate in intercultural environments, and perform in a genuinely European context. This practice-based approach facilitates access to the wider European music ecosystem while engaging participants with key societal priorities, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, peace, and equality.

The project is structured around three main objectives:
Empowering amateur musicians through training and professionalisation. MOTIVE delivers a comprehensive training programme covering digital music production, environmentally sustainable practices, promotion and marketing strategies, entrepreneurship, and copyright literacy. The project supports young musicians in strengthening their professional and entrepreneurial competencies through the MOTIVE Training Model.
Promoting mobility and transnational cooperation. The project establishes the MOTIVE Collective—an international and scalable network of musicians and cultural organisations designed to continue beyond the project’s duration. The Collective serves as the primary platform for mobility exchanges and international cooperation throughout the project and beyond.
Fostering intercultural dialogue through musical heritage. The creative process is rooted in the exploration of local musical traditions, which participants reinterpret and blend to co-create original compositions that reflect Europe’s cultural richness. The first collaborative musical production developed within MOTIVE will serve as a foundation for future co-creations, contributing to a growing repertoire that embodies a shared European cultural identity.

The project has produced a set of meaningful results that are already strengthening the capacities of participating musicians and partner organisations. Management and coordination activities have improved partners’ ability to plan, monitor and adapt transnational cultural projects, leading to more structured procedures and better risk management.

A key outcome is a digital training toolkit in beta form, derived from the tested online course and pilot workshop, which offers a replicable learning model for beginner musicians. It outlines core thematic areas, suggested workloads, methodological guidance and examples of good practice informed by participant feedback. Together with the compiled training reports, attendance records, and evaluation tools, this enables partners and external organisations to reuse or adapt the training, thereby broadening access to professional skills for emerging artists.

The project has also generated substantial cultural knowledge and new artistic work. A joint digital study documents diverse European music traditions, while an audio‑visual report brings together expert interviews, community memories and traditional musical pieces. These resources, complemented by the documentation and recordings of the MOTIVE concert, expose audiences to a shared musical heritage and showcase an innovative, accessible, and environmentally conscious concert format. The signed Memorandum of Understanding establishing the MOTIVE collective provides a formal basis for continued collaboration and future joint initiatives among the participating organisations and musicians.

Communication, dissemination and distribution of outputs further amplify these results. Reports on communication activities, promotional strategies and distribution planning describe how the project’s products are shared and used, while the established visual identity and promotional materials increase the visibility of the new repertoire, the training model and the collective. These elements are expected to support ongoing performances, educational use of the materials, and new partnerships that continue the project’s promotion of results and legacy.
