The embankment of Juodkrantė is embellished with a series of stone sculptures that were brought to life during 1997–1999. The collection is called “Earth and Water” and was conceived during an international art symposium that saw sculptors from Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Hungary and Mauritius come together to create an alley of inspiration and wonder.
The idea of setting up the sculptures' exposition was born in 1995 during the construction of the 2,400 m long embankment along L. Rėza Street in Juodkrantė. 31 sculptures are placed in the 800 m. along the lagoon.
