Memorial of Gintaras Paulionis

Memorial of Gintaras Paulionis

Location: Central beach of Preila

There are people whose bravery and stamina are inspiration to many. Such was a traveller and boatmen Gintaras Paulionis, who crossed the Baltic Sea from Lithuania to Sweden and Denmark in a self-made rowing boat in 1994. He tragically died in a storm on his way back, close to the shores of Preila.

The memorial was carved by Julius Narušis in 1996 and stands tall in the central beach of Preila, next to the lifeguard station.
