Perhaps the most enjoyable bicycle route in Lithuania for both amateurs and professionals - the almost flat, recently renovated 52 kilometres of pure bliss. The route visits all of Neringa’s settlements, stretching from Nida to Smiltynė, and is a part of the Seaside Bicycle Route of Lithuania as well as the official member of European network’s “EuroVelo” route of “Hansa ring” (EV 10).
Most of the route is covered in perfumed, picturesque pine forest and several inviting, functional stops offer plenty of rest if you need it - perfect for families.
The official start is in one of the ferry ports to Smiltynė (Danės st 1, Klaipėda or Nemuno st 8, Klaipėda). The first part from Klaipėda to Juodkrantė is 21 km, mostly along the Baltic sea. Then, the stretch from Juodkrantė to Pervalka is 16,5 km and takes cyclists to the nature reserve of the grey dunes and into the depths of Neringa’s pine forest. From Pervalka the route hops to the lagoon side, towards Preila and finishes in beautiful Nida, at the foot of the Parnidis Dune.
While cycling, take a moment to spot the Hill of Ram, the grey dunes in Nagliai Nature Reserve, the Dune of Vecekrugas and the Bulvikis Cape. Relax in one of the viewing points or bird watching towers that can be found between Pervalka and Nida.
There are plenty of options to rent a bike in Neringa.
